Stroller Fun & Dog Food

I turned my back for 30 seconds and learned that this kid is quicker than I gave him credit for. He has learned to open doors, and used that skill today to get to the dog dish.

This is the face of a boy chewing on a dog kibble. Don't worry, I got it out.

Carter and Lydia used the stroller today wearing their matching bear jackets to go to playgroup.

They are quite close - holding hands and all. A little bit earlier he was putting Goldfish crackers in her hair.

She really wanted to taste his jacket. And he really didn't want her to:

He has learned that sometimes it is easier to give in to a strong woman.

But, what goes around comes around. He sticks up for himself in a different way.

New Pictures

One year picture Grandma took him to have taken. What a bad mom, I haven't taken him to get professional pictures taken YET!!

It has been a busy month. I have been sick, and in and out of urgent care. David has been great about taking over and trying to let me sleep. Things he does on a daily basis, are now completely done without help. I got the latest Tennis Shoes Among the Nephites book that has just come out - after 5 years - by Chris Heimerdinger. That has kept me pretty busy. I got it on CD, so I can still do other things (unlike when I got lost in Twilight). Here are some new pictures that we have taken this month:

Telling us a story about his toys. He is quite animated, and he thinks he's quite funny.

"I will not eat that last bite!!"

Carter wearing David's glasses, that he stole off his face!!

King of Strollers

I have had my eye on this stroller for 10 months. It is amazing. It has two swiveling wheels in front for balance. It is designed to hold two carseats. It fits very nicely in the back of my car - it is the ONLY thing that will fit in the back, but it fits very nicely. I was at Babies-R-Us getting shoes for Carter and noticed that it was on clearance. I pushed it around the store for an hour and a half reasoning with myself. The final decision came when I took it through a doorway. It fit!! I pushed it through a normal sized doorway, and home it came with me.

Sick Baby

Baby Carter is sick.
We had some play time on the floor yesterday, and he wasn't really interested.

He tried to get the Taxi in his mouth.

Lydia had lots of fun though.

The one thing that he tried desperately to do was watch a movie. An open room full of toys, and this is the only thing he wanted to do!!!!

The little things in life

It is the little things in life that make me grateful. Like still being able to put Carter in the Bumbo and have him stay. He needed a little distraction, and a basket of his clothes did the trick.
Yay for a baby content with just sitting around!!!

Carter's second cousin Audrey born 2lbs heavier and 2 inches longer than him, at 6 weeks(pictured) kept that difference. She crawled by 6 months and walked at 9 - both things that Carter has yet to master. But, at a year they are almost completely even in body proportions. She weighs in 3 oz heavier. The charts for the girls are very much different from the boys though. She is in the 70th % for weight and 90% for height. Go figure.

The last sink bath

Carter can now sit up in our little sink tub. I don't know if you can see that water in the air, the water on the wall, or the water forcing its way up the bath of the tub - but we lost A LOT of water to the floor and our clothes.

12 month check

Carter had his 12 month check at the doctor today:

20 lbs 13 oz - 19%
30 inches long - 55%
His head measures at 23%

His doctor said he is all caught up. He is not worried about the low weight, nor the fact that I just pulled the 6-9 month clothes out last week and he's swimming in them. I like it just fine, he gets to wear the clothes that he has longer.

He is army crawling still, no walking.

Pulling himself to sit and stand - but not in front of anyone. He is still pretty lazy.

He talks A TON, but says nothing.

He laughs at his own jokes, which are apparently hilarious!!

12 Months!!

Carter turned one on September 5th. David and I were out of town. He didn't notice, I'm sure. David surprised me with a trip to Port Angeles and Forks to celebrate the 3rd time reading the Twilight series in just over a month.

We had his party yesterday. What an adventure.

I made carrot cake cupcakes with yogurt frosting. I got the idea from some of David's students in the auto shop at Green River surprisingly enough. He really did like it. He didn't eat the cupcake though.
He will be much more enthusiastic to unwrap things come December.

This card was so funny, it says "Think they will notice the cake missing?" with a really fat cat on the front.

We got this art table for Carter in December from Costco. It was $30 or $40 and came with 4 chairs. It was really neat. He is not anywhere close to using it, but it really came in handy today. I had puzzles, coloring pages, and a craft. The girls made butterflies and they glued them to sticks to they could fly around, and the boys did it with dragons.

Even the adults had fun coloring.

More Movement

Carter is now more semi-mobile than before. He does that little army crawl. He is not very proficient. He really gets going when he sees a heater vent, or something small that he envisions going in his mouth - especially when it will fit down the heater vent.

P.S.: I usually dress my child. I don't put him on the floor very much because I don't have the time to clean it first. We have dogs, and we wear our shoes in the house - who knows what this kid could pick up. I think David was worried I don't put him on the floor because he'd get his clothes dirty, so he took them all off. Go figure.

Also, in the end, he sees the dogs' food. He is off to go taste it.

Swinging

Thursday is Toddler Playgroup. During the summer time we go to the park, during the rainy cold part of the year, we stay in the church building. It is a lot of fun. Carter and I have been going since he was 2 months old. Today we went to the park near our house. We tried out the swings again. It went much better today.
This picture was taken 6 weeks ago. Apparently a lot can change in 6 weeks.

This is his new scrunched up nose face. He is quite cute with his Bajoran nose.
